HOW DO I?

Add a color from another app to Fabric Stash

One approach — Use an app to create color images and save to device' Photo Library

1) Open a paint program app —
  • If you don’t have one already, find an app that can create a full screen of color.  A paint program is best, but other programs that might work include a flashlight or color converter program.  It is getting harder to find programs can be loaded on the original iPad, but we found one that does and it is fairly easy to use.  It is called Prismatic and it is free (with ads).
2) Use the app to create and save as a full screen color image.  (It is not necessary to capture a screenshot.)
3) Add the new fabric to the QuiltSandwich app --
  • Open the QuiltSandwich app and select the Fabrics tab.
  • Select "+ New Fabric" and then "Photo Library Image".
  • Next tap “Saved Photos" and tap your new image (it will be at the end of the list).
  • Then, use pinch and drag to get the image just right before saving it as the fabric image.

Open an app with colors

To begin, use a favorite app that shows color tiles or find a new one. Paint programs will work, however, if you don't have a favorite look at some of the free color id programs in the AppStore (search for 'RGB' to get a list.)

This example uses the iPhone app, What Color Is This? (We have no association with this developer. It just seemed easy to use and therefore good for our example.)

Select a color you like.  Save the tile to Photos:
  1. Take a screen shot and use the iPhone crop tool so the image includes just the light blue fabric.
  2. Once the image is set, tap 'Done' in the upper left, then 'Save to Photos' on the pop-up.

Save the color to Fabric Strash

Following this example:
  1. Open QuiltSandwich's Fabric Stash.
  2. Tap '+New Fabric' for pop-up.
  3. Choose 'Photo Library Image'.
  4. Scroll through your images to find the color tile image you saved and select it.
  5. Back in QuiltSandwich, tap 'Save' in the upper right on New Fabric. Fabric image is added to to the Fabrics page as the very first tile in the upper left.
  6. Use tap-and-drag to re-order.
