HOW DO I? Create a Pixel Quilt pattern
This Tutorial assumes you own these two apps on an iPhone or iPad — QuiltSandwich and ColorHints Mosaic.
To make a pixel quilt, you'll also need an image on your iPhone or iPad. You may have an image you want to use, however, need to crop or edit the image first. The good news is the tools in Apple's Camera or Photos app should give you all the editing you need.
This tutorial uses a royalty-free image of color pencils grabbed found on ClipArtBest.com.
1 Add image to ColorHints Mosaic
2 Transform image
Use CH Mosaic controls to transform the image into pixels:
3 Share to QuiltSandwich
IMPORTANT — Share requires right-hand menu switch 'Limit colors' set to ON
4 Import into QuiltSandwich
The QuiltSandwich pop-up uses defaults for the number of tiles, colors, and tile size.
The tile size is the finished size of a fabric piece. Adjusting the tile size also updates the overall size.
Patchwork block is the number of tiles (pieces) grouped together into blocks for the block layout pattern.
As an option, the project can be given a name at this point.
5 Open pattern in QuiltSandwich
6 Gather and prepare fabric!
The QuiltSandwich Tutorial can help you learn more about how use QuiltSandwich. Because there are so many fabric colors in a pixel quilt, the fabric selection tools like Color Mix and COMPARE Fabric Side-by-Side may be especially helpful.
